It's always a blast hanging with Nicole at WBTW News 13. She's just so much fun! We had a great time cooking up a Back to School snack together. "Smart Bars" are great for breakfast, to pack in your little's lunch box, or just for an on the go snack. These bars taste so much better than the packaged ones you'll find at the store, and you'll save money by making them yourself! Plus, this is a fool proof recipe that takes minutes to whip up and throw in the oven.
Halley May’s “Smart Bars”
1 ¾ c. rolled oats
½ c. brown sugar
¾ tsp. vanilla
¼ c. honey
1 egg
¾ c. alphabet cereal
½ c. fruity pebbles or colored rice cereal
¼ c. butter softened
¼ c. coconut
½ c. peanut butter
1 tbsp. flaxseed
- Spray 8x8 pan with cooking spray
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together ingredients
- Add ingredients to baking pan
- Bake 18 minutes
- Remove mixture from the oven and score (be sure to score the mixture so you are able to cut it once cooled)
- After mixture is cooled completely, cut into squares
